This morning Angie was on Global TV sharing her favorite tips and tricks for making and grilling pizza on the BBQ. In case you missed it, we're sharing them here too!
Start with your favourite pizza dough, you can find our recipe here. We also sell a traditional frozen pizza dough in the Well Seasoned freezer.
You need a clean, HOT grill. Heat your grill to 500 F and ensure it is clean before cooking your dough. This will prevent sticking and uneven cooking.
Be Organized - have all of your toppings ready to go. A few of our favorites:
Grilling the Dough
Once you have rolled the dough out to your desired thickness, place the dough right onto the grill in one motion (get as flat as possible). Close the lid leave for about 2 minutes. Once you have a nice cook on the first side (lift the edges and ensure you have defined grill marks) remove the dough from the BBQ and place on a cutting board grilled side up.
Dress with your favourite toppings - on the grilled side. (Putting ingredients on the raw side will run the risk of the dough not cooking through and a soggy pizza). Return the pizza to the grill, brush the edges on the pizza with garlic butter, and cook until your satisfied with the crispiness of the crust, and the cheese is melted.
Treat your BBQ just like an oven and enjoy a new take on pizza!
Chef's Tip - If you are grilling multiple pizzas, you can grill one side and have these sit until you are ready to eat. Your guests can top them, and you can grill to order. Did someone say pizza bar?
