Janice grew up on a dairy farm in the Fraser Valley. Her mom first introduced her to baking at a young age and taught her that when you make something for someone else, it is done with love. Also, it was instilled in her the importance of using fresh, local, in-season ingredients and that home-made is best! From then on, Janice has enjoyed baking for family and friends. After a 30 year career in the medical laboratory field, Janice decided to follow her passion and enrol in the professional Baking and Pastry Arts program at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver. She has just recently graduated in 2015 and started working in the industry right away.
She then decided to start her own custom baking business called The White Oven. Janice finds great satisfaction in working with clients to develop exactly what they envision, from savoury pot pies to celebration cakes. Janice continues to learn new techniques in the exciting world of pastry as well as keeping alive the old recipes that she grew up with. We're proud to have her as our teaching Pastry Chef at Well Seasoned.
