My name is Helena Kopelow and I am the Executive Chef and owner of Grayson’s Catering and spices. I am 45 years old and I was born, raised and (Red seal) culinary trained here in Vancouver. I started catering in 1998. I have been classically trained by Deb Connors of Aqua Riva and Horizons on Burnaby Mountain. I graduated top of my class and have been a night school teacher with Vancouver School board for 12 years. I also teach at Langara College, culinary studies. As of late I am now one of the teaching Chefs at Well Seasoned. I have also been the executive Chef to Strong’s Grocery store, private chef service, sous chef of The Bay in Oakridge and have catered from Smith Glaxo Kline to Doctors, Lawyers and prominent real estate agents. I am best known for her “Famous Turkeys to Go at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas".
I enjoy teaching students and sharing my vast knowledge of tips and techniques. My students become friends due to my relaxed sense of humor and open personality. I know that a good instructor is well prepared and an asset to any teaching environment. The most common comment I get from my students is they say how well prepared I am .
I take great pride in making every class a winner! While I am classically taught, I learned from watching by my mom’s side over the many years. She taught me how to make water into soup and stretch a $.
Chef Helena has a class for everyone. She is known as a spice master and has a passion for all things food. Students know Chef Helena for her unique and creative style of teaching.
