These are simple, high-impact skewers that look like catering but take almost no effort. They’re perfect for a Canada Day or pre-grad gathering because they hold up well on a buffet and can be assembled ahead.
Makes: 20-25 Skewers
- Bocconcini (mini mozzarella balls)
- High-quality balsamic glaze
- Extra virgin olive oil (for basil oil base if needed)*
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes (red or mixed colours)
- Fresh basil leaves (about 1 bunch)
- Salt + black pepper (optional)*
- Small skewers or cocktail picks*
- Optional basil oil (quick version)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1/3 cup olive oil*
- Pinch of salt
*Available from Well Seasoned
1. Drain bocconcini and pat dry (important so skewers don’t get watery)
2. Wash cherry tomatoes and basil leaves (If basil leaves are large, tear them in half for easier skewering)
3. On each skewer, layer: Tomato, basil leaf, bocconcini Ball, Basil leaf. Repeat until skewers are assembled.
4. Arrange skewers on a large serving platter or wooden board
5. Lightly drizzle with balsamic glaze (Well Seasoned product) just before serving
6. Drizzle a small amount of basil oil over top or serve it on the side for dipping
7. Finish with a pinch of salt and cracked pepper if desired
